When you’re struggling with addiction and working your way through an addiction treatment program such as an alcohol rehab plan or a drug rehab plan, you may have missed out on visiting some of the great attractions in the Tampa area. Tampa is known throughout Florida as being the place to go to enjoy outdoor activities.
If you’re looking for a fun, sober-friendly activity to do in the Tampa area, making plans to go to the beach is a wonderful option. The area in and around the city of Tampa is filled with several public beaches that you can enjoy either by yourself or with friends and family members.
Benefits of Being in Nature for People in Recovery
Have you ever sat on a beach and just closed your eyes? Your other senses will quickly take over. You will smell the ocean water, hear the birds chirping around you and touch the coarseness of the sand. By tapping into all of your senses, you will soon realize that you are slowly starting to relax. Instead of struggling with racing thoughts, you can take a deep breath, enjoy nature and calm yourself down.
Benefits of Exercise in Addiction Recovery
Another benefit of making time to go to the beach is that it provides you with an excellent opportunity to exercise. Daily exercising can produce endorphins which, in turn, can help you feel happier and more relaxed. Also, you will quickly notice that you will continue to feel better about yourself physically and emotionally.
Going for a run along the sand or a swim in the ocean are great examples of simple exercises that you can do at the beach. Additionally, some beaches provide visitors with an outdoor workout area. Remember, when you come to Legacy Healing for treatment, we can arrange for you to work out with one of our personal trainers so you can exercise with confidence when you go to the beach.
Finding Serenity at the Beach
One of the best things about going to the beach is that it provides you with the type of environment you can enjoy seemingly any day. Whether you want to go to the beach first thing in the morning and watch the sunrise or you would prefer to lay back and listen to the waves break on the sand in the middle of the day, it’s unquestionable that you will find some form of serenity regardless of when you come to the beach.
Beaches In and Around Tampa
Are you ready to have some fun in the sun and visit some of the beautiful beaches in and around the Tampa area? Here are a couple of great options that you should try:
Ben T. Davis Beach
The is an example of a beach that locals usually frequent because it’s in close proximity to several hotels and delicious places to eat. It’s a great beach to visit if you have little ones that enjoy playing in the sand because there is a long stretch of sand between the end of the sidewalk and the water.
One of the reasons people enjoy coming to the Apollo Beach Nature Preserve is that this location provides visitors with access to a beautiful beach and exciting information about animal life. This location stretches 63 acres and is home to a fascinating variety of aquatic species. There is also a two-acre stretch of a picnic area, so be sure to bring a basket of food with you.
Sunset Beach is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. This beach is approximately 30 minutes away from the center of Tampa and provides visitors with blue ocean water, white sandy beaches, and restaurant options. You will want to make sure to bring your camera with you to this beach, especially if you are going early in the morning or at sunset, as Sunset Beach provides you with an unimpeded view of the scenery around you.
