As you start to work your way through an addiction treatment program, you may find there are certain sober places or things in your life that you have not taken advantage of because you were in active addiction. Now that you are focusing on becoming healthier, we strongly encourage our clients to enjoy these fun activities. Golf is an example of a sport that can help you to relax and focus on developing skills you didn’t realize that you had.
Young children may not completely understand the premise of golf. It’s not uncommon that many children and even teenagers think that golf is boring. If you are interested in reconnecting with a special little one in your life when you get back home after your alcohol rehab or drug rehab program, a great place to start would be a mini-golf course.
Although this setting doesn’t provide the same environment as a traditional golf course, it may help show you whether there would be any curiosity in playing a regular round of golf. Some of our favorite places include:
Sayville Falls Mini Golf
Sayville Falls Mini Golf is a popular choice among mini golf locations. Not only does this mini-golf course feature unique and challenging holes, but it also provides a fun and relaxed environment where you can really begin to spend quality time with your little one. Better yet, it’s open seven days a week between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., so you have the flexibility of playing any time during the week.
To perfect your skills, you must play at golf courses that present you with a challenge. While it’s true that several golf courses are spread throughout Long Island, some courses may help you to improve your golf talents more than others. These courses can provide many challenges:
Poxabogue Golf Center
Poxabogue Golf Center gives golfers not only the chance to play a challenging round of golf but the opportunity to practice on their stroke with a unique driving range. Although this course does open an hour later than some of the other courses in the area, it’s well worth the trip. Poxabogue Golf Center is open seven days a week between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Indian Island is one of the popular tourist attractions on Long Island, so it’s no wonder that they would have a golf course nearby. The golf course on Indian Island is associated with a country club, however, so there may be an increase in fees associated with playing at this location, but the challenges are well worth the expense. An added bonus? This location is open until midnight for golfers.
Is there anything better than taking in a round of golf and being surrounded by beautiful scenery? The Sebonack Golf Club provides you not only with a dynamic golf course but a great environment. This golf club is located close to the water, so during every stroke, you will be able to take in a deep breath of fresh air. The Sebonack Golf Club is located to several local restaurants, so you can always grab a bite to eat after you finish a game.
One of the reasons golf enthusiasts enjoy going to Island’s End Golf & Country Club is that it opens at 7 a.m. every morning to enjoy watching the sunrise as you get ready to tee off. This is another example of a golf course that sits close to the water, which only adds to the beauty of the entire course.
